About Suzie….

  • Sleeping is my favorite sport.
  • I love pretty much every kind of pizza (no anchovies please).
  • The sloth is my true spirit animal.
  • My husband is Chris and we have been married since 2001.
  • I have two kids and I wish they would live here forever.
  • My kids aren’t really kids anymore and will both be in college soon.
  • I love dogs more than most people and will go out of my way to greet a furry friend.
  • I love clothes and shopping but really love helping other women get dressed and feel more confident.
  • I used to love wearing a sparkly high heel but I have fallen in love with sparkly sneakers and flats.
  • I equally love an oversized sweatshirt and sweatpants.
  • I’m a homebody and introvert who needs a lot of downtime and reading books and magazines.
  • I’m a business owner who still struggles with calling myself a business owner because I am always fighting imposter syndrome and self-doubt.
  • I struggle with anxiety and depression and I talk about it because I think we all need to bring more awareness to mental health.
  • I also learned a long time ago the mental feel good power of presenting your best and most authentic self to the rest of the world and I think how we dress is a powerful tool.
  • I believe fashion is what is on the runways and that real style is feeling comfortable and confident in your clothes.
  • Oh and I’m terrified of snakes…just in case you were wondering.

About Suzie Gaffney Styling…

So how and why did I start this business?

I majored in Finance and worked in mutual funds after college. Post the 9/11 attack on our country the company I worked for had to restructure and I was laid off. It hurt and I felt embarrassed and sad, but there was an odd relief as I really had no connection to any of the work I was doing other than getting a very nice paycheck. My layoff package included career counseling and I determined my 2 favorite things were dogs and clothes. Out of my comfort zone I put on my best Ann Taylor suit and walked into a boutique that I heard was looking for a manager. Although my business suit horrified the owner at first I promised her I could work hard and learn fast.  I worked over 10 years at the Elizabeth Maar Boutiques and loved every second of it, 3 years as a manager and about 7 years part time on the weekends while I was home with our kids.

Over the years I saw many customers struggling to put together their purchases into a cohesive wardrobe. A simple request from a customer led to this consulting service. I believe that  no matter where you are in life you should have a  look that reflects your own personal style. When you look good you feel good.  We all deserve to be the best version of ourselves.
